THOMAS S. DOHERTY Obituary

With gratitude and love, we invite you to join us in celebrating the life of Thomas S. Doherty, a
devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Tom shared an extraordinary 50-year love
story with his wife, Nancy, whom he first met while working at a go-kart track. He was instantly
drawn to her brilliance, her sense of humor, and—if we’re being honest—the white bikini she
was wearing that day may have sealed the deal.

Tom had a passion for adventure, whether carving through black diamond slopes as a skilled
mogul skier in New Hampshire, riding motorcycles with Nancy (one of them daring enough to
wear a leather corset), or later, introducing his daughter, Jullieanne, to the thrill of
three-wheeler rides—often as a creative way to get her to nap. A lover of all things Star Wars
and space, Tom shared that passion with his daughter, instilling in her a lifelong appreciation for
the stars. He cherished his time on the water, guiding his family on fishing trips off Cape Cod
aboard his boat. The rhythm of the ocean brought him serenity, a gift he passed down to his
granddaughter Harper.

For over a decade, Tom and Nancy opened their home and hearts as a welcoming host family
for students from Showa Women’s University in Tokyo, Japan. Their home became a place
of warmth, laughter, and cultural exchange, forming bonds that transcended distance. One
unforgettable summer, all of their former students returned the favor—lovingly hosting Tom,
Nancy, and Jullieanne on a special trip to Japan, a testament to the lasting impact of their
generosity and kindness.

Tom proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he played
a role in pioneering advancements in computer technology. He was a real estate broker for
Dee’s Realty in Plymouth and worked at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station before dedicating
over a decade to the City of Boston’s Retirement Department as an information technology
specialist. Tom took his daughter for her first visit to City Hall for "Take Your Daughter to Work"
day, where she caught a glimpse of the meaningful work her father did each day.
Tom was a man of quiet strength and deep loyalty, always happy to accompany Nancy on
shopping trips and never one to turn down a good meal—he was, at heart, a true foodie. His
love and dedication extended not just to family and friends, but also to animals of all kinds. Over
the years, Tom's home was filled with beagles and dogs with a knack for eating the wires in
cars, hamsters, rabbits, parakeets, a cat named Midnight, and even two ball pythons his
daughter begged for and named them Cleopatra and Mark Antony. His deep care for animals
was just another reflection of the warmth and kindness he carried in every part of his life.
Tom’s greatest joy was his family, who will carry forward his love, humor, and kindness. He is
lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy, his daughter Jullieanne, his granddaughter Harper,
and his daughter-in-law Seol Lee. He leaves behind his brother-in-law Roger Gurich, cousin
Gina Gianchetti, best friend since the 4th grade, Michael Brigida, Sr, and the Brigida family
children, and close family friend Kathy Glynn. He is held in the hearts of Bill Mortimer Jr.,
Alfred DeLuca, Tom Smith, Linda Law, Greg Campbell, Kikuku Oba Baba and many childhood
and lifelong friends who were part of his journey. His family extends heartfelt gratitude to the
compassionate teams at VA Home Based Primary Care Team in Boston and Good
Shepherd Community Care, with profound appreciation for the staff at The Casa de
Ramana Rehabilitation Center, who recently provided unwavering care and kindness.
