SAMUEL JACKSON Death notice

JACKSON, SAMUEL M.  of Roslindale, July 28th.  Beloved son of the late Samuel & Margaret (Mack Latson) Jackson.  Loving father  of Shanna Fields and Terina Jackson & Samantha Jackson.  Brother of Robert Powe.  Proud Grandfather of  Cameron Jackson-Humes, Ajah Hallman, Amari Hallman, Amber Hallman and the late Aaron Hallman.

Samuel McKinley Jackson passed away on July 28, 2020 with his three children, Shanna, Terina, and Samantha by his side. Samuel McKinley Jackson was born to Marjorie (Mack Latson) and Samuel Jackson on August 30, 1960.  Samuel grew up in Boston, Ma. surrounded a sleuth of aunts, uncles and cousins.  With a family full of Samuels, he was affectionately referred to as ‘Big Sam’ or ‘Big Sammie.’  After attending Dorchester High School Samuel enrolled in The United States Navy, where he proudly served his country.  In addition to touring the world and taking on the associated experiences, The Navy also afforded Samuel the opportunity of meeting long-term partner and mother to his children, the late Frances Young

After his Honorable Discharge Samuel returned to the Boston area, partner in tow, ready to begin his civilian life.  Samuel returned to the workforce, acting as a strong provider and support to his family.  Despite being vocationally trained in the Navy as an electrician, Samuel ultimately found his passion through Human Services, working for The State of Massachusetts in the Mental Health field for over twenty years.

When not working Samuel loved music, attending Patriots games with his bother Robert, and cooking.  Samuel was also a gifted artist, a craft which he inherited from his late mother.  Samuel took great pride in being a grandfather, coining his own nickname of ‘Poppy.’  His grandchildren include Amber Hallman, Ajah Hallman, the late Aaron Hallman, Amari Hallman, and Cameran Jackson-Humes.

Despite his struggles later in life, we invite you to celebrate Samuel’s life, and remember him in better times.  The times when he could be seen grilling with a beer in hand, or drawing the Jackson Family Crest.  Times when his ponytail was slicked back and his shirt tucked in and unbuttoned to show his chest.
