WILEY, Richard L “Dyl”
Richard “Dyl” Wiley, of Jamaica Plain, passed away peacefully on Friday June 5, at the age of 71 surrounded by loved ones, listening to his favorite song Muddy Waters. Dyl is survived by his beloved brother Robert Wiley of Tennessee, formally of Jamaica Plain and his cousin Christopher Robinson of Tennessee. Dyl was a respected employee of Costello’s Tavern in Jamaica Plain and was a staple of the establishment since he first started working there in 1993. He was adored by his co-workers and the regulars who turned into his family. Dyl was the bright light in the dim bar lights talking to anyone who would listen, including himself. He looked out for all by running errands around Centre Street and causing laughter regularly. By day Dyl could be found sitting in the last bar stool drinking his coffee, eating his muffin, and doing the newspaper crossword puzzles, by night Dyl would be swaying to his favorite jukebox oldies tunes, swigging a Budweiser, and changing the channels on every TV. Richard “Dyl” Wiley will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have met him.
Due to Covid -19 guidelines visiting will be WEDNESDAY from 10-11am. A small prayer service will be at 11 oclock. All are welcome
