CORTES, Rafael Q. 

Rafael Q. Cortes of Boston was born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, on October 11, 1943. He passed away on August 2, 2024, at the age of 80. Rafy was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all. Beloved husband of Carmen (Bonet) Cortes. Loving father of Angel, Andres, Alex, and Rafael Quiñones. Brother of Jose Quiñones, Angel Quiñones, Rafael Aviles, Miguel A. Rosado, Marianna Rosado and Lydia Quiñones. He will be missed by his 23 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his brothers Anibal Aviles, Juan Quiñones, and Jose P., and his sister Mayi Rosado.

During his working career, Rafy worked at Boston University, in the Facilities Department for over 20 years. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, and vacationing at his home in Puerto Rico. He was known for being a listening ear to all his loved ones and sharing his strength and perseverance for life. Rafy's presence will be missed by those who were fortunate to have known him, his legacy of love and family will forever leave a mark in our hearts. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, August 6th from 4 to 8 PM at Mann and Rodgers Funeral Home, 44 Perkins Street in Jamaica Plain. Relatives and friends are invited. 

A Service will be held Wednesday, August 7th at 11 AM at the Mann Rodgers Funeral Home before Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester.
