Paul James Cole, 45, beloved son of Nita Dunn and Alan Cole, Sr., including Step-parents Greg & Annmarie and survived by his 4 siblings Denise, Sandra, Kelly & Alan Jr., as well as, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Paul spent most of his life residing in Jamaica Plain, MA. He was an avid basketball player and a diehard Boston Celtics fan. He enlisted into the U.S. Army after Graduating from High School and upon his return home, worked as a year-round lifeguard & swimming teacher/swim team coach at various Boston Community Centers within the Boston’s Centers for Youth & Families. He also took pride in the construction work he did and the skills he was taught by his friend and mentor, Shawn. He was frequently misunderstood due to his severe mental illness, but Paul had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. He also loved his family immensely, as evidenced by the countless, selfless sacrifices he made for them throughout his life. He loved tossing the football with his nieces and nephews and taught them tips on improving their basketball playing skills.
Paul continues to give back even in death as an organ donor. He continues to inspire by giving the gift of life & healing to others and providing hope to those in need. He will be deeply, dearly missed.
A Memorial Service will take place at Mann & Rodgers Funeral Home, 44 Perkins Street, Jamaica Plain on Sunday, June 26th from 12 noon - 2pm. Relatives and friends are invited.
