KATHLEEN MASKELL Death notice

Kathleen (Donaghy) Maskell, of North Andover, beloved wife of James Spriggs, passed away peacefully in her home on January 20, 2022, at the age of 73.

Kathleen was born on November 19, 1948 in Acushnet, Massachusetts.  From a young age, music was Kathleen’s life. She began playing the piano as a girl and never stopped – from private lessons, to owning her own music studio, to playing at Tremont Temple Baptist Church and Old Cambridge Baptist Church and teaching music courses at Regis College.  She also attended and graduated from Berklee College of Music and received her diploma from Phil Collins – she was so proud of that accomplishment, as well as receiving her Masters Degree from Boston University at the age of 60.

When she wasn’t playing the piano or teaching, Kathleen could be found with her family. Her love for her granddaughters has spanned two decades and baking, sewing and simply making memories with Isabella, Jasmine and Leah was the highlight of her days.  The other bright spot in Kathleen’s life was her husband, James, whom she met later in life. They had the blessing of traveling in recent years and making many loving and lasting memories together.

In addition to her husband, Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Christine (Killen) Butters of Medford and Suzanne (Killen) Kelley and her husband, Jimmy, of Litchfield, New Hampshire; and a son, Benton Killen of Lowell.  She also leaves the loves of her life, her three granddaughters, Isabella Killen, Jasmine Kelley and Leah Killen.  Beloved sister to Nancy (Donaghy) and Albert Foster of Freetown and William Donaghy and Janet MacNally of Bourne.   Kathleen is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives & many friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Mann & Rodgers Funeral Home, 44 Perkins Street, Jamaica Plain on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 3 to 6 PM. Interment will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne the following day at 11:15 AM.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED IN THE FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Piano Fund at Old Cambridge Baptist Church, 1151 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02138.
