DEVANEY, JAMES J. of Milton, passed January 9th.  Son of the late Thomas and Rita (Coakley) Devaney.  Loving father of  James Devaney, Deanna Devaney and Jessica Silva. Visiting hours will be on Friday, January 17th from 5pm - 7pm at the Mann Rodgers Funeral Home, 44 Perkins Street, Jamaica Plain.  Family and friends invited. Interment will be private.

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father ,James “Jimmy Devaney, who left us on January 8, 2025 at the age of 79.  He was a devoted father, loving grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and a cherished member of the Jamaica Plain community.  His death leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Born on February 2, 1945, in Boston, MA, Jimmy was the son of Thomas and Rita (Coakley) Devaney.  He was raised in Jamaica Plain and went on to lead a full and meaningful life.  Jimmy was known for his kindness,loyalty, wisdom, humor and his influence extended far beyond his immediate family.

Jimmy was known for his love and passion of cars.  Outside of his professional life, he enjoyed fishing, cleaning and maintaining his cars, walking, and spending time with his family.  Whether he was head deep in the hood of a car or sitting in his neighborhood Dunkin Donuts, he made every moment count, living life with integrity, humility, and a deep love for those around him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Rita, and his brother Timmy.  Jimmy is survived by his children, James Devaney, Deanna Devaney and Jessica Silva.  Grandfather of Isabella, Jaxson, Andrew and Jalessa.  He leaves behind countless friends, extended family and all those lives he touched with his warmth, wisdom and generosity.

Jimmy will always be remembered for his love, his strength and the legacy of kindness he left behind.  Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide us and he will forever live in our hearts.
