JAMES E. DALEY Obituary
James Edward Daley, 79, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024 after a long illness.
He was born in Baker Hill, Montserrat, West Indies and grew up in Co Joe’s Head. He emigrated to London, England, at the age of 19, and began his profession as a skilled carpenter. During his early years in London, he met the love of his life, Claudina Ponteen, and they married in 1967. After 1 year of marriage, they were blessed with a daughter, Tracey Lorraine. In 1972, they emigrated to the United States and decided to live their lives in Boston. Three years later, they were blessed with a son, Michael Gregory.
While raising his family, it was quite evident, that he was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to travel both domestically and internationally with his family. Nothing made him happier than creating special family memories. He was known for his great compassion, generosity, kindness, and insight.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Claudina (Ponteen) Daley, along with his 3 older siblings, Abraham, Mary, and Richard. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Dr. Tracey Lorraine Daley, of Sharon, and his devoted son, Michael Gregory Daley, of Hyde Park, his 3 precious grandchildren, David, Moses, and Victoria, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He will be immensely missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
Visiting hours will be on Saturday, December 28th at Fountain of Grace Church, 427 Turnpike Street, Canton, MA, from 8:30am-10:00 am, immediately followed by a funeral service, starting promptly at 10:00 am. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain
