GEORGIA PAPPAS Obituary

Georgia Despina Pappas

1931 - 2025

It is with a loving heart that we announce the passing of Georgia Despina Manolukas Pappas. Surrounded by family, she crossed over into paradise on Wednesday, January 29th 2025.  She was born on June 30th, 1931 in Youngstown, Ohio to John and Maria Aperghis Manolukas who were Greek immigrants. She was a good student and graduated from South High. She studied at Youngstown College and worked at Central Candy and Cigar Company in the family business. She fell in love with a young man from Boston named Lambros Alex Pappas. Together, they were a dynamic team who worked hard to reach their dreams. They traveled the world and enjoyed life with their family and friends. Georgia worked at Northeastern College of Law, The Sisters of the Holy Cross and her favorite, the iconic Shreve Crump & Low of Boston. She truly loved working with families to make their wedding dreams come true in the bridal department of Shreve’s.

Music always played a very important role in Georgia’s life. At a young age she developed as a coloratura, a soprano whose voice specializes in music that is distinguished by agile runs, leaps and trills. For years she sang in the choir at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Boston. When she and Lambros would come to Ohio every Christmas, our musical family enjoyed the holidays with gusto! Georgia was cherished by all who knew her for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lambros Alex Pappas and his parents, sister Katherine Kyriakides, brothers George and Nicholas Manolukas, brother-in-law A.K. Kyriakides, sister-in-law Marie Manolukas, brother-in-law Michael Pappas, sister-in-law Catherine Dickos, brother-in-law Harry Dickos, niece Thalia Economus and husband George and nephew Peter Manolukas, nephew Alex Pappas and niece Penelope Pappas Curry.  Family members left to celebrate her life include sister-in-law Maria Pappas Maciejewski, Rod and Louise Kyriakides, John Manolukas, Nicholas G. Manolukas and Juanita Maria Maxwell, Frank and Teja Dicopoulos, Alex and Ginny Dickos, Penny Dickos along with many additional great nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to give special thanks to Georgia’s longtime caregivers Lesvy Roman and Vilma Mallea who have become family to us through their loving and compassionate care.

The funeral service will take place at Mann-Rodgers & Commonwealth Funeral Home at 44 Perkins St. Jamaica Plain, MA. 02130. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 3rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the AHEPA Cooley’s Anemia Foundation at 1909 Q St. NW # 500 Washington, DC 20009
