ELLEN MARIE KORNELL

On August 15, 2021, Ellen Marie Kornell, (née Hewitt), died peacefully at home surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law, her expected grandchild, and cat.

Ellen was born on January 30, 1952 to the late Mary and William Hewitt. She was the youngest of four children and is survived by Bill, Sue, Bob, and Leona.

Ellen worked for many years in AIDS research and research compliance; she cared deeply about others and was deemed the “champion of the underdog” -- a name that shows the deep love she had for others. She had a contagious passion for music and dancing, and you could often find her on the dance floor with her free-spirited fancy footwork.

Ellen is survived by her daughter, Sarah, and son-in-law, David, as well as their expected child. She leaves behind her ex-husband, Jody, many nieces, nephews, and friends, and her grandson in heart, Jacob Kornell.

Services will be held at the Forsyth Chapel at Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hill Ave, Jamaica Plain on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11 o’clock.   In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the cholangiocarcinoma foundation @http://cholanglocarcinoma.org.
