ELFRIEDE A. WINKLER

Elfriede Winkler (Boehl) of Moss Hill Jamaica Plain, Sept. 10, 2022, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Henry Winkler for 68 years. Elfriede was born in Mannheim, Germany in 1929. She immigrated to the United States as a young woman and she was very proud to have become a U.S. citizen. Sister of Walter Boehl and his wife Mary of Westwood. Aunt of Erika Joyal of Marshfield, MA and her children Kayla and Ben Joyal and his wife Natalie Joyal of Marshfield, MA, Aunt of Werner Boehl and his wife Joanne and their daughter Olivia of Scituate, MA. Aunt of Walter Boehl and his wife Laurie and their children Max and Lorien of Westwood, MA. Elfriede was the aunt of many other nieces and nephews who reside in Germany, Switzerland and Australia.  Elfriede was known in the business community, along with her husband Henry, as the former owner of Yumont Hardware in Jamaica Plain and Atlas Hardware in West Roxbury. She was a devout Christian who loved to attend mass and sing in church. She also loved traveling and spending time with her family and lifelong friends, especially the special times at her cottage on Pawtuckaway Lake in New Hampshire and in Sarasota, FL. Elfriede also loved the Jamaica Plain community and her neighbors on Moss Hill. Elfriede was a member of the German Ladies Aid Society of Boston and the Boylston Schul Verein in Walpole. A special thanks to the staff at Edelweiss Village for the wonderful care she received. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Theresa of Avila Church, 2078 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 10AM. Interment Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery.
