Beloved wife of the late Dr. Christos A. Theophilis (1972). Survived by two adult daughters and their husbands, four grandchildren, her sister and brother-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, godchildren and lifelong friends. Demetra’s parents were born in southern Greece and emigrated to Boston where they raised her and her sister in the South End. Demetra attended Girls High School in Boston and later graduated from Boston University School of Education. After traveling extensively and living briefly in Athens, Greece and Chicago, Illinois she returned to live in Jamaica Plain where she raised her family, taught elementary school and remained for the rest of her life. A dedicated mother, she instilled in her daughters the importance of education, the arts, community service, hard work and respect for all. Her final and most joyful role was that of a Yiayia. The impact she had on her grandchildren will be everlasting.
