CATHERINE KORNEGAY

Kornegay of Dorchester May 22,Catherine.   Born in Birmhingham AL  Jan 2, 1932 to the late John & Eulia Belle (Vickers) Kornegay.  The Lord called her home on May 22, 2020  Raised in Birmingham Al she left the south and moved to Boston to pursue a career in business in 1950. She was educated and received her  masters degree in Social Work at Simmons College in 1970. She retired  after 25ys of service for the Dept of Children and Families in Boston. Catherine met her husband in Boston ane they were married in 1966.Catherine was loved by all who knew herand was blessed with an uplifting spirit which she shared with everyone. Also being very close to her family she never liked to be hugged.Catherine leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years Dalton Kornegay..Beloved mother of Frank & her adopted daughter Susan Young.  Late mother of Kim Woods & Clifford Williams Also late sister of brothers John, Cornelius & sisters Alma & Zula. Predeceased by brothers William & Herman.  Late member of The United Methodist Church in Boston for over 65 years. Catherins legacy will continue with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren Keith, Kerry, Kendra, Brutus, Calvera, Clifford, Jr., Cateleya, Londyn, Kate, Kelyse Ariyon and Omari Vaughon Williams and Layla Hedgeland.  A viewing will take place at Mann & Rodgers Funeral Home 44 Perkins St. (corner of So. Huntington Ave.) Jamaica Plain Wednesday from 12:45 to 1:30  Commital graveside services at Oaklawn Cemetery at 2 O’clock.  Guest book at mannandrodgersfuneralhome.
