BARBARA MARINI Death notice

On Friday, March 26th 2021, Barbara Marini (King) passed away at the age of 96 in Boston.

Barbara was born on July 6, 1924, in Carraroe, Co. Galway.  She immigrated to the Boston area in her mid twenties, and married Antonio Marini in 1960.  She raised 1 daughter, Mary, and 2 sons, Donald and John, in her Harwich home.  She had 6 siblings residing across Ireland, England, and America, and all have since passed.  She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

During her entire life, Barbara was an infinite source of love, support, and affection.  Growing up in Harwich, MA, our childhood friends wanted all gatherings to be at our house because of how she treated them. She listened, laughed, and made a genuine effort to connect.  She let kids play a little louder, get a bit dirtier, and have a whole lot more fun than they could have anywhere else.  She enthusiastically supported every interest that her kids had, was a fixture at every baseball and soccer game, and drove a carload of kids home from many events.

The affection she showed her children, grandchildren, and all their friends effortlessly flowed throughout her life.  There wasn’t a sentence she uttered that didn’t include words like sweetheart, darling, honey, sweetie..  everyone in her presence felt the love and warmth she radiated.

She was incredibly loved and will be greatly missed.

There will be a small service for immediate family.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).

Arrangements by Mann Rodgers Funeral Home, Jamaica Plain.

Barbara will be interred with her husband Antonio, a WWII Army Veteran at the Bourne National Cemetery in Bourne.
