PEREZ, Adriana of Roslindale

Adriana Perez passed away on June 12, 2022.  She was 96 years old.  Adriana was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  She was the daughter of the late Diluvina Ruiz and the late Juan Perez.

Adriana was a devoted mother to her daughter, Dinorah A. Hernandez, and son, Jose R. Aja.  She was predeceased by her much-loved grandson, David Jude Hernandez.  She was a loving grandmother to Lisa Gaskins and husband Michael and to Majida Ortiz.  She was a loving grandmother to her great grandchildren, Angel, Joshua, Elias, and Majadi.  She is also survived by her sister, Teresa Dossett.

In 1948, Adriana emigrated to Boston where not a single word was spoken in Spanish.  She learned English while working at an apparel factory and made many friends because she enjoyed meeting people and made the time to listen to everyone.  She welcomed the arrival and growth of the Latino community and lived in Boston’s South End for over 70 years.  Family and friends called her “Ma” or “Doña Adriana”. She loved family, friends, fun, the sun and music.  Ma will be forever remembered by all of us whose lives she touched. 

The family would like to thank all of the health care professionals, staff and volunteers who have cared for Ma, particularly everyone at Care Dimensions Kaplan House.

Visitation will be held at The Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston’s South End on Thursday, June 16th from 9:45 a.m. to  10:30 a.m. followed immediately by the Funeral Service.  Interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
