Shirley Caroline (Sieberg) Trainor of Waltham. Massachusetts passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024 at the age of 92 while residing at Maristhill nursing home

Born in 1931 in Dorchester, she was the youngest of five children born to Henry and Mildred Sieberg. Shirley was raised and educated in Newton Massachusetts. A graduate of Newton High School she worked as a telephone operator until she married her sweetheart, Thomas Trainor.

Growing up, family had always been the most important aspect of her life. She and her four siblings performed skits and other shows at both the Lettish Lutheran Church and Veteran’s Hospital in Jamaica Plain. Shirley started dance lessons as a child and continued throughout her teenage years.  She auditioned for the role of Carmen Miranda with the Major Bowes Amateur Hour in New York.

In 1949 Shirley was crowned Miss Newton. Her hobbies included home decorating, ceramics and creating Halloween costumes for her and Tom as well as her five children. She had a creative mind and enjoyed doing all sorts of arts and crafts. She made fresh grape juice and jelly from the grapevine in the backyard; all the while with five children in tow. Shirley always had a smile on her face and kindness in her heart.

Shirley is predeceased by her husband Thomas J. Trainor, her son Stephen J. Trainor, her daughter Bonnie M. McKinnon and her son-in-law Fred J. Rubenstein. 

She is survived by her son James H. Trainor and his wife Linda, daughters Cynthia J. Trainor and Lorraine M. Pasquantonio and son-in-law Daniel McKinnon, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be private and donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s association.
