RAMONITA COLÓN, 82 of Florida, formerly of Jamaica Plain, March 12th
Doña Ramona, was born to the late Luis Palermo and Rosa Torres Carlo in Guanica, Puerto Rico. She migrated to NYC and eventually made her way to Boston’s South End neighborhood. After a time she settled in Jamaica Plain, MA where she would raise her 6 daughters.
Many neighborhood residents often saw Doña Ramona on her daily trek to the store to play her lottery and buy her hard candies which she enjoyed. She had a fondness for children and especially loved babies. She remained in JP until her retirement then relocated to Florida.
She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Yvonne and is survived by her children, Janet, Jacqueline, LC, Yvette and Elizabeth. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Also survived by brothers Miguel and Mario and Bievenido and sisters Isabelle, Estrella, Zaida and Lourdes. Preceded in death by Rosalina, Luis Jr., Efrain, and Jose. Arrangements by Mann and Rodgers Funeral Home, 44 Perkins St, Jamaica Plain. Visiting Hours will be 9am -11am on SATURDAY, March 17th at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Jamaica Plain followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 o’clock. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Oaklawn Cemetery.
